In Arua Diocese every year pilgrims visit Lodonga Minor Basilica dedicated to the Blessed Vergin Mary entitled Sultana of Africa. Pope John XXIII granted this title privilege on 26th May 1961. The celebration of this year took place on 9th December.
Here is situated the first ever, South of Saharan Minor Basilica, one of the most important spot dedicated to Mother Mary Immaculate by the Servant of God Bishop Angelo Negri, Founder of the Institute of the Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate.
The idea and commitment come from Servant of God Mario Benardi Satori. He constructed the Basilica.
The celebration was also to inaugurate the 5th Diocesan Synod with the Theme"Growing together as the Family of God" The Liturgy was animated by Adjumani Vicariete.
The Mass was led by the Ordinary of the Diocese,His Lordship Bishop Sabino Ocan Odoki. He hailed Mother Mary as the source of our unity. Her Motherhood as the Mediatrix of all sources Graces unites us and today we had varied people's over six thousand pilgrims. He said She unites these as one.
The feast expressed the dogmatic teaching of the Church that Mary was conceived without Sin . She is Immaculate We strongly believe and profess this gift of Mother Mary. Mother Mary Immaculate pray.
