In the morning of 11th October 2016 it was all excitement in senior one class at Dr. Lucille Corti Science College when Mr. Oyik Felix, the chemistry teacher entered the class, followed by two students holding glass science wares.
He started setting up the apparatus after writing on the chalk board “Experiment to prepare oxygen gas”. In their squeezed classroom students were scrambling to have a good look at the set up of the apparatus and chemicals for the lesson. Some climbed on their desks and others sat very close to the apparatus.
Toto Maria, located in the diocese of Kotido diocese, is a Vocational Training Centre for girls who have been victims of rape, forced marriage and defilement. Sr. Mary Angel Acayo LSMIG named the Centre after the Blessed Virgin Mary "TOTO MARIA" in Karamojong language and in English "MOTHER MARY", to draw wisdom and help to support the vulnerable girls who are victims of rape, forced marriage and defilement.
Sr. Mary Angel Acayo went to New York on 22rd March 2016 to talk in a United Nation Human Right endeavours on behalf of the Permanent Observer of Vatican. She presented cases of the vulnerable people in Karamoja and especially the girl children's plights like rape, defilement, early and forced marriages.
The talk represents an important issue which the Congregation of the Little sisters of Mary Immaculate is trying through Sr. Mary Angel Acayo to support. Gifts and donations are invited to uplift the needs of these vulnerable ladies.
