November is a strong month of belonging to Bishop Angelo Negri Founder of the Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Gulu and the Little Brothers of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Lodonga.
The Heavenly Birthday of Bishop Angelo Negri is 11th November 1949 and the His Birthday on Earth is 19th November 1889. This year was his 126th birthday. He passed on to the next world when he was a week to clock 60 years of age. This time the occasion was celebrated in his home village called Tres in Trento-Italy.
The Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate witnessed a historical day when 10 of their junior Sisters renewed Vows and 40 young women took steps to embrace the religious life. The colourful event took place at Gulu on 7th December 2017.
For the church, particularly for our Institute, the event marks a revitalization for the spread of the Joy of the Gospel, the New Evengalization St John Paul II exhorted in "Vita Consecrata" and Pope Francis in the declaration of the Year of Consecrated Life in 5015 said the Consecrated should "Wake Up the World".
This was an area to recall as we move to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the foundation of a book written for Children's Missionary activities named Piccolo Missionario by Bishop Angelo Negri.
This today is under Pontifical Missionary Society in Uganda called St. Kizito Children's ministry from the age of 3 to 13 or 14. That time and even today we have the Crusader activities for children to boost children's knowledge of God.
90 years ago, this was Bishop Angelo Negri's preoccupation to acknowledge the children who many a time are silent witnesses of the Joy of the Gospel, witnesses of the Reign of the Kingdom of God.
Moyo parish, in diocese of arua, celebrated her centinary jubilee Saturday 19th August 2017. The celebration was led by His Excellence Rt. Rev. Michael Blume, the Apostolic Nuntio in Uganda.
Concelebrating ministers were Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki the ordinary of Arua Diocese, Rt. Rev. Joseph Franzelli - Ordinary Bishop of Lira, Rt. Rev. Paride Taban - Bishop Emeritus of Torit diocese, a good number of diocesan and missionary priests. Many religious and the lay faithful turn up for the celebration. The ceremony was graced by presence of two centinarians: a man of 106 and a lady of 103 years old.
Mary Queen of Peace school has special start and attributes to pass on. The Little Sisters saw in their skin the turmoils the sons and daughters in Northern Uganda under went from the 20 years of insurgency and by that time of which the children were not alien. For safety they, with their mothers left the comforts of home and slept on the streets, LSMIG Mother House convent, hospital,churches, town, schools etc.
Mother Angioletta Kindergarten was founded by Sr. Susan Clare Ndeezo in 1993 in a chicken House at Sacred Heart Sacred Heart Secondary school with the mind to support the children of the Staff of Sacred Heart Secondary school and the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor. The name of the school is after the Mother Co-foundress Rev. Mother Angioletta Dognini a Comboni Missionary who faithfully sustained the Institute of the Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Gulu after the untimely demise of their Founder Bishop Angelo Negri Servant of God.
The Zonal Coordinator of Gulu East, Rev. Sr. Rosalba Aciro earlier on mobilized her sisters for the Easter recollection through letters and phone calls. The resources for the retreat were gathered from communities which were tasked to organize particular items on the budget. Everything was brought ready at St. Mauritz Community which managed it successfully. One of the Councilors Sr. Immaculate Agul attended the retreat.
